It was a commonly known fact that Sherlock Holmes could not live without brain work. What else is there to live for? The yellow, worn down streets hosting homeless people? The odorless, bleak life that they were forced to move on with each day? The honk of the same Cab Driver in the same street in the same place? What could be more hopelessly prosaic and material? It was a dreary, dismal, unprofitable world into which one that Sherlock tried to make the best of.


He shifted from his position on the couch, raising his pistol to the already holed wall before firing. Boring, boring, boring. Sherlock sat up in dismal, running his fingers through his hair in agitation. Was it too much to ask for a couple of murders here and there? A little more excitement in the bleak life they lived through? A case, Sherlock thought. That was what he needed.</sub>
